On May 10, 2025, our concert “Blending of Sounds” at the Winspear Centre was nothing short of historic! With two world premieres, guest choirs, distinguished soloists, and a full 60-piece orchestra, the night was a true celebration of choral music.
We were deeply honoured to welcome renowned Ukrainian composer Myroslav Volynsky and his wife, who traveled all the way from Ukraine for the world premiere of his powerful new work, Господні терези (Divine Scales), written for mass choir, orchestra, and soloists.
Kappella Kyrie was joined by guest choirs Ariose, Axios Men’s Ensemble, Ukrainian Dnipro Ensemble of Edmonton, and Verkhovyna Ukrainian Choir to form the incredible mass choir, filling the hall with breathtaking sound.
We were also thrilled to feature renowned soloists: Kateryna Khartova, Soprano, Yurii Hryhorash, Baritone, and Russell Braun, Bass-Baritone
The first half of the evening featured Kappella Kyrie in intimate a cappella pairings, including the world premiere of Victoria Vita Poleva’s “The Ogre”, which captivated our audience.
With 700+ attendees, this unforgettable night was the perfect way to celebrate 15 amazing years of Kappella Kyrie.
Thank you to everyone who made this unforgettable night possible!
“Congratulations on an incredibly beautiful concert! It really did touch my heart and soul and, from all of the comments I’ve received from others, it had the same effect on them. The Edmonton-based Shevchenko Board members have been raving about the concert to our other board members in other parts of Canada… I know I speak for all of my TSF board members when I say how proud we are to have been able to support the performance!”
