This holiday season, members of Kappella Kyrie had the joy of joining Ukrainian Shumka Dancers as a guest ensemble in Canada’s Ukrainian Nutcracker — a beloved Edmonton Christmas tradition that blends the grace of classical movement with the power and spirit of Ukrainian dance.
Performing alongside Shumka dancers and youth from the Shumka School of Dance, our choristers were honoured to help bring this magical production to life with live choral sound. This partnership was a meaningful celebration of Ukrainian culture, storytelling, and community — and we were grateful to be part of a show that continues to inspire audiences year after year.
Canada’s Ukrainian Nutcracker took place at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on December 20–21.
